In the winter of 2016, Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) began its eastside expansion which entailed changing the purpose of a building from a commissary kitchen to a medical clinic. The change of use required the one-story concrete building to undergo a seismic upgrade which included shear walls for lateral reinforcing, parapet bracing, and out of plane reinforcing for all exterior concrete walls. Our scope of work also included repairing and altering the roof for new mechanical units, and correcting drains and overflows.
Manning Design + Construction worked closely with the project engineer to create efficient solutions to satisfy the needs of the full seismic upgrade. As a subcontractor on this project, we worked closely with the general, B&G Builders, and the other trades to complete the project on schedule.
